From Press Release

The Elizabethtown College men’s lacrosse team won for the first time ever at Mustang Stadium Wednesday night and did so in dramatic fashion, with the help of several Philly grads.

The Blue Jays scored with one second left in regulation to force overtime and then won it 1:20 into OT on a goal by Reese Levinson (Central Bucks South) to upset 17th-ranked Stevenson, 20-19. Tristan Coleman had eight points in the game and Brent Wehland netted six goals for Etown (1-2)which rallied from a 19-13 deficit in the final 5:20 of regulation.

Levinson had three goals and an assist and Casey Lamey (Upper Merion) scored twice while Ben Zaitz (St. Augustine Prep) was the winning goalie with 6 saves. Logan Rolles (Crestwood) won 18 of 34 faceoffs.

Elizabethtown had the upper hand in the first half, outscoring the Mustangs 5-3 in each of the first two quarters. Wehland set up Coleman for the game’s opening goal, though Stevenson scored three in a row to grab a 3-1 lead. Finn Kristan, Lamey, Coleman, and Wehland each scored to make it 5-3 after one.

The Jays were ahead 9-4 after Jay Rodriguez joined the scoring list with his second of the season. Reese Levinson made it 10-5 with 1:12 to go before half. The Mustangs grabbed one back late for a 10-6 halftime scoreline.

Stevenson owned the third 8-0 as they retook the lead and went into the fourth ahead 14-10.

Down 17-10 going into the final 10 minutes, the Blue Jays put up nine goals, including two in the final 21 seconds to eventually force overtime. Kristan scored his sixth of the season with 21 seconds remaining and when hope seemed lost as time wound down, Wehland picked up a ball just shy of midfield and fired a shot toward goal that found its way into the goal to tie the game at 19-19.

In overtime, Stevenson forced a Jays’ turnover to get the ball back after Elizabethtown won the opening face-off via violation. The Mustangs though would be called for offsides to give the ball right to the Jays.

On Etown’s ensuing possession, Levinson would carry the ball into the middle above goal and rip a shot that beat the goalie and won it for the Blue Jays.
