The Haverford College men’s lacrosse team (2-0) earned a 13-9 road victory over Arcadia (1-1) on Wednesday afternoon. A balanced offensive effort and a dominant third quarter powered the Fords, who scored three goals in both the first and fourth periods and outscored the Knights 4-0 in the decisive third.

Will Weinstein led the Fords with five points on two goals and three assists, putting all five of his shots on goal. Reid Tietjen added a game-high four goals on 13 total shots, eight of which were on target. Philip Passalaqua contributed two goals and two assists, placing eight shots on goal. Max Esteban (Parkland) anchored the faceoff unit, winning 11-of-23 draws to spark the Fords’ offensive possessions, while Mac Broaddus earned the win in goal with seven saves.

Reilly Robichaud (Kingsway Regional-NJ) led the Knights (1-1) with three goals while Tristan Johnson and AJ Laibach each had a pair.

Arcadia struck first despite Haverford winning the opening faceoff, as Robichaud capitalized at 12:50. Goals from Johnson and T.J. Shillingford extended the Knights’ lead to 3-0 before Weinstein opened the scoring for the Fords at 7:38. Blake Donnellan followed with a goal off a Passalaqua assist to trim the deficit to 3-2. Robichaud added another tally to make it 4-2, but Nick Snyder beat the first-quarter buzzer on a feed from Passalaqua to send Haverford into the second trailing 4-3.

Tietjen fueled the Fords in the second quarter with two goals, including one assisted by Ollie Abar at 12:23 and a solo effort at 7:38 that gave Haverford its first lead at 5-4. After A.J. Laibach tied the contest and Johnson briefly restored Arcadia’s advantage, Charlie Vaccaro converted a man-up opportunity off a Weinstein assist at 1:59. The teams entered halftime knotted at 6-6.

Haverford seized control in the third quarter, scoring four unanswered goals. Tietjen opened the half at 14:15 off a Weinstein assist and added another at 10:01 from Abar. Turner Elliott followed with a goal at 9:09, again assisted by Weinstein, before Passalaqua scored unassisted at 7:22. The Fords’ defense locked in from there, with Broaddus making timely saves to preserve the shutout quarter and give Haverford a 10-6 advantage heading into the fourth.

Colin Hulett extended the lead early in the final period at 13:48. Arcadia responded with goals from Jack Keenan and Laibach to cut the margin to 11-8, but Passalaqua and Weinstein answered with key tallies down the stretch. Despite a late man-up goal from Robichaud, Haverford maintained control to secure the 13-9 victory.

Haverford controlled key possession statistics, winning 12-of-25 faceoffs and collecting 43 ground balls to help secure the win. Although Arcadia tallied two man-up goals in the final quarter, the Knights were unable to recover from their scoreless third frame.
