From Press Release

The second-ranked Salisbury University men’s lacrosse team claimed victory to begin the 2026 season, securing a 19-6 win over host Eastern University Monday afternoon at Olson Field.

The Sea Gulls (1-0) scored the first five tallies and held a 5-1 advantage at the end of the frame. Michael Leahy buried the first goal of the campaign, and was followed by markers by Chris Wong (Salesianum School, 3G, 1A, 2GB), Riley Strub, Tristan Plotts and Brady Mancha.

The Maroon and Gold pitched a shutout in the second stanza, while Trent Lucovich (Avon Grove, 3G, 2A, 1GB) and Cabrini transfer Connor Herraiz put home a pair of goals each. Strub racked up a goal and two helpers, while Herraiz dished out two assists to fuel an eight-goal quarter with Preston Huffman, Wong and Leahy finding the back of the net during the flawless frame.

Salisbury managed to outpace the Eagles (0-1) 5-3 in the following 15 minutes of play. Lucovich added an unassisted goal, Leahy finished an acrobatic behind-the-back bid on the cage after receiving a feed from Bret Bergey (Downingtown West), then Strub, Rory Callahan and Wong paced the offense to round out the session.

Also, Nick Donofrio (Wissahickon) had one assist, one groundball and one caused turnover, and Ryan Keating (Marple Newtown) scored once.

For Eastern, John Tinney (Ridley) had two goals and an assist and one groundball and Frankie Fanelli (Pennridge) had two goals, a groundball and a caused turnover.
