Penn Charter will again host the kickoff to the lacrosse season Saturday, March 7 at the Annual PKO Invitational Lacrosse Tournament.
This cherished tradition honors the memory of Peter K. Ortale OPC ’83, who was lost in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, making our time together especially meaningful as we remember Peter’s life, legacy, and enduring impact on our community.
Peter was a two-time high school All-American who captained William Penn Charter School to the 1983 State Championship. He went on to become a two-time All-ACC midfielder at Duke University, serving as captain of the Blue Devils in 1987.
The PKO Invitational brings together the Philadelphia lacrosse community for camaraderie, spirited competition, and a shared celebration of Peter’s love of the game. Philly-area teams will compete throughout the day.
