Price Orcutt scored her fourth goal late in the third period to break an 8-8 tie as visiting Conestoga continued its impressive early streak vs. Inter-Ac League powers today by downing Academy of Notre Dame, 10-8.
Conestoga (2-0), which toppled Agnes Irwin, 6-5, in its opener, also got standout goaltending from Courtney Smock (12 saves). Orcutt added five draw controls, two groundballs, and an assist, while Brooke Bickel had two goals, a draw control, and a groundball.
Also scoring for the Pioneers were Julia Cowgill (3DC, 1CT), Bianca Antonacci (1A), Tori Hewitt (1GB), and Carolyn Jones. Cate Holbert added four groundballs and caused turnover, and Lauren Grimes had two groundballs and two caused turnovers.
“(Courtney) had an incredible game and gave our team so much momentum,” said Conestoga first-year coach Jaclyn Collins. “Our girls did an awesome job executing the game plan. They played well as a team and played with confidence and composure.”
Riley Davis led Notre Dame (2-2) with five goals, one assist, four draw controls, two caused turnovers and one groundball.
