Delaware men add 15 newcomers; 6 from Philly

The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse program has added 15 newcomers for the 2027 season, head coach Ben DerLuca announced Friday.

The 15-member class, which is made up of 10 freshmen and five transfers, features recruits from eight states (Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia) as well as Canada.

#5 Brady Cetera | Midfield | Fr. | Downingtown, Pa. | Downingtown West
Bio: Graduated from Downingtown West in 2026… Was a four-year starter and one-time captain in high school… Named first team all-league and first team all-state… Helped team to first undefeated season and advanced to states for the first time since 2012, and won back-to-back Chesmont Championships… Had 70 points as a senior… Also played basketball for two years and golf for one year… Son of Karen Cetera… Has a sister, Mackenzie… Cousin, Bryson Kolinsky, is a teammate on the men’s lacrosse team at UD.

#16 Jacob Garrity | Goalie | Fr. | Aston, Pa. | Salesianum
Bio: Graduated from Salesianum in 2026… Was a one-year starter and one-time captain in high school… Named first team all-state, first team all-conference, and all-conference defensive player of the year (2026) … Helped Salesianum win four Delaware State Championships (2023, 2024, 2025, 2026)… Allowed the fewest goals in a Delaware State Championship Game since 2017… Played for Team Ten (2022-2025)… Also played football for three years (2022-2024) helping Salesianum win a Delaware State Championship (2023)… Son of John and Allyson Garrity… Has a sister, Addyson.

#4 Bennett Cook | Attack | Fr. | Towson, Md. | Loyola Blakefield
Bio: Graduated from Loyola Blakefield in 2026… Was a three-year starter and one-time captain in high school… Named First Team All-MIAA and First Team All-Metro… Led team in points his junior and senior year including 54 as a senior… Also played basketball… Son of Candace and Sandy Cook… Has a brother, Mason, who plays lacrosse at Loyola (Md.)… Mother, Candace, attended UD… Father, Sandy, played lacrosse at Gettysburg College.

#8 Rowdy Scheer | Defense | Fr. | Cincinnati, Ohio | St. Xavier
Bio: Graduated from St. Xavier in 2026… Was a four-year starter and one-time captain in high school… Named second team all-region (2023-2025), first team all-state (2026), Region 4 Player of the Year (2026), Ohio Defensive Player of the Year (2026), Academic All-American (2025), and All-American (2025)… Helped team to two state championships (2025, 2026) and had two state runner-up finishes (2023, 2024)… Had 61 ground balls and 41 caused turnovers as a senior… Also played soccer… Son of Karl and Katherine Scheer… Has two brothers, Thomas and Alexander… Father, Karl, was a swimmer at Harvard (1993-97) and mother, Katherine, swam at Northwestern (1993-97).

#13 Cole Samburg | Faceoff | Fr. | Vienna, Va. | Langley
Bio: Graduated from Langley in 2026… Was a four-year starter and two-time captain in high school… Named a USA Lacrosse All-American (2025, 2026), Washington Post First Team All-Met (2025), VHSL First Team All-State (2025, 2026), first team all-district (2023, 2024, 2025, 2026), first team all-region (2024, 2025, 2026), and district offensive player of the year (2026)… Helped team win the 2025 Northern Region Championship… Holds the all-time Langley records in faceoff wins (629) and ground balls (696)… Tallied 147 goals, 101 assists, and 248 points in his high school career… Also played football (starting quarterback and captain from 2024-26), and hockey (starter from 2023-26 and captain from 2025-26)… Named first team all-district offensive player of the year and first team all-region for football (2025-26)… Was a three-time state champion in hockey… Son of Tom and Alyson Samburg… Has a brother, Charlie, and a sister, Molly.
