After an impressive team victory over a top Division III program, Babson College graduate student Joey Allen (Conestoga) was named New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Allen scored a career-high five goals and matched his career high with eight points as No. 20/20 Babson knocked off No. 4/5 RIT 16-12 on Saturday. He recorded a pair of goals in the first quarter, had a goal and an assist in the second, and tallied twice in the third as the Beavers built a six-goal lead and defeated their first opponent ranked in the top five in both polls in program history.
A grad transfer from Washington & Lee where he was a USILA Honorable Mention All-American and Academic All-American, Allen is among the league leaders in scoring this season with eight goals and four assists for 12 points in two games. He recorded 73 goals and 39 assists for 112 points in 55 career games for W&L and earned USILA All-America honorable mention recognition.
Georgetown’s Bickel (Malvern Prep) is BIG EAST
Georgetown’s Jake Bickel (Malvern Prep) was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for his efforts in the Hoyas 10-9 setback to No. 9/10 Ohio State in the home opener over the weekend. Bickel scored a pair of goals to go with one assist in the loss to Ohio State. The three points were the first in his career on the Hilltop. Bickel is the ninth player on Georgetown’s active roster to have earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors at some point during their rookie season.
Richmond’s Sheridan (Malvern Prep) is A-10 Offensive Player of the Week
University of Richmond senior midfielder and team captain Joe Sheridan (Malvern Prep) has been named this week’s Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week after playing a pivotal role in Richmond’s 8–7 victory over defending national champion and fifth-ranked Cornell Saturday.
Sheridan led the game with four points, tallying two goals, two assists, and a ground ball. Down 7–5 with 11:59 remaining, Richmond scored the game’s final three goals to secure the win, with Sheridan involved in each. He assisted Lucas Littlejohn at 10:03 to pull within one at 7–6, scored the game-tying goal at 4:43, and then set up Gavin Creo for the game-winner at 1:04.
The victory extended Richmond’s current streak to 14 wins in 15 games, handed Cornell its first regulation loss since May 3, 2024, and helped the Spiders achieve the highest national ranking in program history at No. 2 in the Inside Lacrosse poll.
