Dan Riely fired home the game-winner in the second overtime today as host Malvern Prep defeated Chaminade (N.Y.), 11-10, today in a battle of two of the top-ranked boys’ lacrosse teams in the nation.
Riely’s heroics closed out a comeback from a late 10-8 deficit as the Friars – top-ranked by Phillylacrosse.com and in the PA Lacrosse News Private poll – improved to 5-0 by knocking off the No. 2 team in the Inside Lacrosse/Q Collar Rankings. Malvern entered play as the No. 3 team and will face No. 1 Lawrenceville School on March 28 after a March 24 date with La Salle.
