Tori DiCarlo (Radnor) had a successful homecoming today with five goals and an assist and her 100th career goal to lead No. 16 Navy past host Villanova, 17-16, in a snowy non-conference game.

The loss was the first for the Wildcats (2-1), who rallied from a 14-10 deficit and pulled within a goal on three occasions.

“We received an outstanding performance by senior Tori DiCarlo, who is local to this area. She led us in scoring in front of her hometown fans,” legendary Navy head coach Cindy Timchal (Haverford High) said of DiCarlo, a 2022 Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year. “I am so proud of the team and their effort today in less-than-ideal conditions.

“We were able to put away 17 goals on a slippery field. Snow was all over the field in the beginning with that snow turning into rain the second half. This was a true test to pull out this victory.”

Sophomore Elena Torres led the ‘Cats with four goals and two assists. Senior Sydney Pappas and Sophomore Bella Piselli (Episcopal Academy) each had three goals. Leslie Iorio and Jillian Vaught scored two goals each while Sami Carey and Madison Freeman (Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) each had a goal. Emma Verhoest dominated the draw controls, winning 16 of the teams total 24 and tying her own program record.

DiCarlo was joined atop the leaderboard by Emily Messinese. The senior team captain finished with five points on three goals and two assists. The hat trick was her second of the season and the 26th of her career.
