The Philadelphia Wings staged an impressive comeback to secure a 13-10 victory over the Vancouver Warriors tonight at the Wells Fargo Center. Trailing 10-7 midway through the third period, the Wings unleashed a dominant 6-0 run to turn the game in their favor and improve their National Lacrosse League record to 5-2.
Mitch Jones led the offensive charge with a stellar performance, tallying five goals and six assists. Joe Resetarits also made a significant impact, contributing three goals and six assists, while rookie Brennan O’Neill added three goals of his own. Holden Cattoni chipped in with one goal and four assists to round out the Wings’ balanced attack. Nick Damude posted 43 saves in goal.
The turning point came when Resetarits scored twice to close the third period and O’Neill tied the game at 10-10. Jones, setting the stage for Jones to give Philadelphia the lead at 11-10. Resetarits followed up with another goal to extend the advantage to 12-10 before O’Neill made it 13-10, with 8:20 to play.
Vancouver (3-3) drew within 14-13 when Owen Grant (Univ of Delaware) scored his second goal with 1:45 to play, but the Wings’ defense held. Vancouver also got five assists from former Wing and Philly favorite Kevin Crowley (Fusion Lacrosse co-founder, former Shipley School assistant coach).
