The Vermont men’s lacrosse team has been selected second in the 2025 America East Preseason Poll. America East also announced its Preseason All-Conference Team, which featured six Catamounts, including LSM Jack Combs (Westtown School) and midfielder Tristan Whitaker (Episcopal Academy). The six selections are the most of any school.
Defending champions UAlbany earned the top spot, receiving six first-place votes and a score of 36 points. Vermont was voted second overall with 30 points. Bryant received 26 points and the final first-place vote, earning the third spot, and UMBC received 21 points to round out the top four.
Combs received the preseason all-conference honor after a rookie season, where he earned America East All-Conference First Team, All-Rookie Team, and All-Tournament Team honors. Combs finished the season with 70 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. The totals are 10th and third-most in a single season by a Catamount, respectively. He finished 25th in the country in caused turnovers per game at 1.63 and second among all first-years.
Whitaker receives preseason recognition after improving in every category in his sophomore campaign. He had a career-high 39 points on 29 goals and 10 assists, the fourth-highest output by a Vermont player last season. He was named to the America East second-team all-conference for the second straight year.
