About Team 11
Welcome to the Girls Team 11 Tryouts! This will be our fifth year with the girls program, however our 10th year running the Team 11 program. We are proud of the culture that has been established at Team 11 and we are motivated to improve the standard of our play to a higher level! We believe in providing quality and consistent coaching to our players and we are looking for players who are passionate about the sport and are looking to take their game to the next level! We believe in a family atmosphere here at Team 11- you will not only get to know your primary coach but will be exposed to other coaches throughout the year as well.
Our Coaches and Directors: Having experienced, knowledgable, passionate, and responsible coaches is the most important factor in a player’s experience and development. The Team 11 program is run by Joey Sankey. Coach Sankey graduated from North Carolina in 2015 and remains the all-time leading points scorer. He continued on to play professionally where he was rookie of the year in 2015 and had a 7-year career and was a 4-time All-Star. Coach Sankey is an active training coach to all of the players throughout the season.
Erin Welsh is our assistant director of the program. Coach Erin has been with Team 11 since we started the girls program 5 years ago. She graduated high school from Archbishop Wood and went on to play Division One lacosse at La Salle University. Erin is the Head Coach of the 2031 team but she oversees all of our teams and ensures that our players are having the best experience possible.
We are extremely proud of our entire coaching staff that works with the players throughout the year. Our coaches for this previous season included Sarah Dippolito, Kelly Macnamara, Brittany Richino, Ken Breithaupt, Lucy Breithaupt, Liza Dellaratta Claudia Steinmetz, Maggie Stella, and Ali Carpentier.
Our Schedule Throughout the Year:
Our youth and middle school teams practice and play throughout the entire year, starting in September and ending in mid-July. Our high school teams have the same schedule with the exception of the Spring due to their high school seasons. This past year we offered optional high school workouts on some Sundays throughout the Spring that players could take advantage of if they chose.
Fall: Our teams will practice on Sundays and once during the week throughout the Fall. The Sunday practices will vary between Turk Park in Warrington and George School in Newtown. All of the weekday practices will be at Turk Park in the Fall. The teams will play in two Fall tournaments.
Winter: We competed in the YSC winter league last year on Sundays and plan to participate in this league again this year. We will also have indoor training throughout the winter at NAC Sports Center in Newtown.
Spring: We practice on Sundays and once during the week at Meyer Way Park, and we typically participate in the NGLL Spring League.
Summer: We practice twice during the week at Meyer Way Park and participate in four summer tournaments.
