Registration is open for the Big 5 Girls Box Lacrosse tryouts on Oct. 6 at Steelyard Sports in King of Prussia.
The Big 5 Box Lacrosse program is a girls box program designed to give players the opportunity to compete at a high level, improve their skills in a fast-paced box lacrosse environment, and prepare for two high-quality tournaments. Box lacrosse is proven to elevate players’ stickwork and their ability to handle the ball while under pressure. The players will be taught how to play the box game the right way while having fun competing at a high level.
Tryouts:
Tryouts for the team will be held on Monday, October 6th from 6:00-7:15pm at Steelyard Sports. If you cannot make tryouts but are interested in playing, please contact Joey Sankey (contact info below).

Details:
The program will be run by Joey Sankey, who graduated from UNC in 2015 where he remains the all-time leading point scorer in program history and played 7 years of professional lacrosse including 2015 rookie of the year. He has been coaching box lacrosse for the last 9 years through Penn Lax (2017-2018) and Team 11 (2019-present).
Practices: The Big 5 Box Program will hold 8 practices held on Monday nights from 8:30–9:30pm at Steelyard Sports. The first practice will take place on December 15th, and the final practice will be on February 9th.
Tournaments:
The team will compete in two local tournaments at XL Sports in Hatfield, PA:
- January 24 or 25th
- February 16th
Each player will receive a team uniform, which will include a jersey, shorts, and a T-Shirt. Players are responsible for all other equipment, including a helmet (a white helmet is preferred if buying a new one), shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, and rib pads and arm guards are recommended. Players are not required to wear a box helmet- players can wear a field helmet if they have a friend or a sibling who they can borrow one from.
Price: The cost for the Big 5 Team will be $895. This will include everything except your equipment (Uniform and T-Shirt is included).
