Phillylacrosse.com congratulates Episcopal Academy senior Evan MacFarland for being named the Boys’ Player of the Year for 2025. MacFarland, a long-stick midfielder and co-captain, was a USA Lacrosse All-American and the Inter-Ac League MVP who led the Churchmen to their first Inter-Ac championship (tied with Haverford School and Malvern Prep) in 27 years. MacFarland, who also played close defense, had 57 groundballs and 53 caused turnovers. He will play at Georgetown.
Phillylacrosse.com congratulates the 2025 Boys’ Honorable Mention Players of the Year:
Gavin Cooper, Haverford School senior defenseman. A USA Lacrosse All-American, All-EPSLA, and All-Inter-Ac pick, he helped lead the Fords to a share of the Inter-Ac title and the PAISAA championship as well as a national ranking among the top 10 teams. He will play at Army.
Jake Bickel, Malvern Prep senior midfielder. A USA Lacrosse All-American, All-EPSLA, and All-Inter-Ac pick, he helped lead the Friars to a share of the Inter-Ac title and a national ranking among the top 10 teams. He collected 37 goals and 37 assists. Will play for Georgetown University.
Aharon Bloshuk, Academy of the New Church, senior long-stick midfielder. A USA Lacrosse All-American, All-EPSLA, and All-Friends League pick, he helped lead the Lions to the Friends championship. He collected 38 goals, 14 assists, 178 groundballs, and 103 caused turnovers. Will play at Penn State.
Patrick Flaherty, Springfield-Delco, senior attackman. A USA Lacrosse All-American, All-EPSLA, and All-Central League pick, he helped lead the Cougars to the PIAA and District 3A championships as well as a national ranking among the top 3 Public School teams. He will play at Maryland.
Phillylacrosse.com congratulates Episcopal Academy’s Steve Colfer for being named the Boys’ Team Coach of the Year for 2025. Colfer’s Churchmen tied for the Inter-Ac League championship with nationally-ranked Haverford School and Malvern Prep – the school’s first Inter-Ac title in 27 years.
Phillylacrosse.com congratulates the Boys’ Team Honorable Mention Coaches of the Year:
Radnor’s Mike Friel, who guided the Raptors to an undefeated Central League crown and berths in the District 1 and PIAA 3A title games as well as a national ranking among the top 4 Public School teams.
Ridley’s Steve Hill, who guided the Green Raiders to a third-place finish in the District 1 3A tournament and a quarterfinals berth in the PIAA tournament – the school’s first PIAA berth in 14 years.
Academy of the New Church’s Shane Sturgis, who guided the Lions to the Friends Schools League championship in his rookie season.
