Amy Orcutt, who won three state championships and earned numerous honors in her 16 years as Conestoga girls’ lacrosse head coach, has stepped down to spend more time with her family.
Orcutt earned her 300th career win this season for the Pioneers and has 311 wins overall, including 6 years as head coach at Agnes Irwin. The Pioneers reached the PIAA 3A semifinals this year before bowing to eventual state champion Springfield-Delco. Orcutt’s Pioneers won PIAA titles in 2016 (when there was one class), 2022, and 2024. She also won five Central League and three District 1 crowns.
Also, Orcutt was twice named the National Federation High School/PIAA Girls’ Lacrosse Coach of the Year and in 2022 she was named the Regional (covering 8 states) Coach of the Year. She was named the Phillylacrosse.com Coach of the Year in 2016. Moreover, Conestoga has won the Team Service Award given by PASLA nearly every year since its inception due to Orcutt’s commitment to community service.
Orcutt said the biggest reason for moving on was her desire to watch her children play lacrosse. Her one son, Jackson, a 2026, is a standout at Episcopal Academy; Price was a standout as a freshman for Conestoga this year and younger sister Tilly also plays lacrosse.
“This was not an easy choice, but I believe the time is right for me to move on and just be a parent and fan,” said Orcutt, a Conestoga grad and a 2009 inductee into the Trefyffryn-Easttown/Conestoga Athletic Hall of Fame “I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible student-athletes, dedicated families, and supportive colleagues.
“Watching young women grow both on and off the field, learning to lead, persevere, and support one another, has made coaching so incredibly rewarding and worthwhile. I feel blessed to have had this opportunity to coach and bond with some very incredible young women!”
In 2022, Orcutt led the Pioneers to their first Central, District and PIAA State Championships in the same year. The team was also Awarded the PASLA Team Service Award for their community service. Coach Orcutt was also awarded the PIAA NFHS/ PA Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year award and the Section 2 Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year, which is comprised of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia.
