Spanos tied his career-high with four goals in the win. The Pottstown native scored three of his goals in the fourth quarter to help the Terps erase a three-goal deficit in the final frame. Spanos also tallied two groundballs.

The honor is Spanos’ third of his career, winning twice last season. It is the first Big Ten weekly award for a Terp in the 2025 campaign.

UNC’s Gianforcaro (Lincoln University native) named ACC Defensive Player of the Week

North Carolina graduate goalie Michael Gianforcaro (Lincoln University native, Culver Academy) was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for games played from February 2-9.

Gianforcaro recorded 12 saves in the Tar Heels’ 15-6 home victory over No. 14 Michigan on Saturday, February 8. He also recorded six ground balls and a caused turnover. The native of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, helped UNC win its 27th-straight season opener. It marked his 24th career game of 10 or more saves and his first at UNC.
