Kelly’s LC avenged an early-season loss by defeating Wilmington, 7-5, Wednesday night in the Doug “Ace” Ellers Masters League 2025 Championship of the Summer Lacrosse League of Southeastern PA.
Kelly’s, led all season by Wills Miller from the midfield and LSM Matt Bernier, won its third league championship and first since 2019. Early in the title game, Wilmington dominated possession as its team speed kept Kelly’s off balance and caused multiple failed clearing attempts.
Despite five first-half penalties, Kelly’s righted itself with goals by Thayer Damm, Ben Junior. and Brandon Asplundh, finally taking the lead 4-3 on a put-back goal by Matt Kelley. Wilmington tied the game 5-5 going into the fourth quarter, but Kelly’s defense stiffened behind the stout goaltending of Eric Gorman as Bo Ryan notched the game winner. Junior (2G) and Ryan (2G) led Kelly’s scoring, and Gorman was named game MVP.
