Futures Lacrosse announces formation of new teams utilizing its unique club model; tryouts begin in June

**Futures Lacrosse** (formerly known as Fusion Futures) is thrilled to announce the formation of new teams utilizing its unique club model, which led a 2029 team to multiple championships and secured the number one ranking in the country last year.

“We provide a different approach to club lacrosse,” says Futures Director Desi Gonzalez. Futures LC will continue to be backed and supported by Fusion Lacrosse. “By adopting a classroom approach and teaching the game beyond just offering film analysis, we have cultivated a culture that fosters a deeper understanding of lacrosse at the highest levels earlier in an athlete’s career.”

Tryouts will be held June 23 & 26 and July 17 at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

Future Lacrosse’s goal is to ensure that youth players are well-prepared for high school, not only in terms of athleticism but also in their understanding of the game’s strategies and concepts. Futures Lacrosse wants them to fully grasp the X’s and O’s so they can comprehend what their high school coaches implement when they arrive as freshmen. For its high school players, Futures takes it a step further by advancing their knowledge toward college-level concepts, helping to ease the transition into college life and competition. Our approach is based on four foundational concepts: Foundation, Film, Development, and Progression.

**Foundation**
Having a solid foundation is crucial for a player’s development. Without a strong understanding of the key elements of the game, a player is likely to struggle in the long run. Even some of the best players need to revisit the basics before they can progress in their understanding of the game and learn how to apply their skills alongside the concepts that their high school or college coach implements.

**Film**
Learning how to analyze film is a skill that must be taught; it is not inherently understood. Film analysis is critical for a player’s development as it provides a clearer understanding of what coaches are trying to convey and how players interpret that information. There are two perspectives in a lacrosse game: what the coach sees, what the player sees, and what the film reveals actually happened. This is why film analysis is an essential part of our curriculum.

**Development**
The term “development” is frequently used by many lacrosse clubs, often without a clear understanding of its meaning. To Futures, development involves instilling elite lacrosse principles and concepts that are utilized at the highest levels of the game. The Futures approach ensures that your athlete enters high school and college fields with a solid understanding of how to apply these concepts to their gameplay in new environments.

**Progression**
A player’s progression is one of the most challenging aspects of communicating without bias from coaches or parents. To address this, Futures utilizes film, statistics, and specific goals as milestones for each player to achieve. Futures holds two progress sessions with parents over Zoom each year. This approach provides a clear picture of where your player currently stands and where they need to go. It also allows for open conversations among your family, the player, and the coach regarding any questions you may have about your player’s progress. Maintaining clarity and open communication is essential for us to work together toward each player’s development and ensure we share the same message.

After two years, this concept has consistently proven to be the best direction for player growth and, when applied at the highest levels, has flourished repeatedly.

Futures Lacrosse also established strategic partnerships with Hudl, Warrior, Lax.com, and Fusion Lacrosse to help propel it in a direction it we can ensure that all essential items are delivered on time and accurately.

Tryouts will be held June 23 & 26 and July 17 at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
