Honoree Questions:
How do you define leadership? “I define leadership like this: the ability to guide and help others, not by your words, but by your actions. Leadership is doing what is right, not just when it is most important, but all the time. Leadership requires humility and the ability to notice and use the gifts that God has given you to help the people around you become better than your own self. A leader wants everyone to be their best and works to make that happen in every situation; on the field and off.”
How do you balance academics, service, and athletics? “For me, it doesn’t always feel like I am ‘balancing’ anything. My lifestyle allows me to dominate each of these activities and not feel like each is a burden. Since I started school, I’ve been involved in sports and helped my family do volunteer work. I enjoy going to school to be with my friends, I enjoy doing service knowing that I am helping others less fortunate than myself, and I really enjoy playing lacrosse, because that is where I challenge myself the most. I’m also lucky to have parents who help me stay on track. They always keep me organized, reminding me what I have going on each week, allowing me to focus on what is in front of me instead of stressing over things that haven’t happened yet.”
What are your future goals? “My future goals are to be as productive as l can with my life. God gave me talents and gifts, and I want to use them to the best of my ability. I plan to go to college next year and learn new things academically, but also about myself. I am studying business, and my goal is to become successful in that field and hopefully one day operate a business of my own. I will also be continuing my athletic career in Lacrosse at Marymount University. I’m looking forward to growing both on and off the field.”
