Alexa Capozzoli (Episcopal Academy) matched a single-game program record with eight assists to go along with a pair of goals to help lead the Saint Joseph’s women’s lacrosse team to a 14-7 rout over Temple on Wednesday afternoon inside Howarth Field.
Capozzoli scored or assisted on 10 of the 14 goals for the Hawks. Her eight assists matched the program record set by Lisa Ross in last year’s regular season finale against George Mason. The junior has recorded 17 assists in the last three games. Emma Yoder (Springfield-Montco) added two goals for the second time in as many games, scoring in each of her first four games of her career. The rookie added two caused turnovers, two draw controls, and four ground balls in the win.
Maddie Yoder’s (Springfield-Montco) three goals move her to 116 in her career, one goal shy of entering the top 10 in program history. Yoder has recorded a hat trick in three of her first four games this season. The senior added a game-high seven draw controls in the win. Sarah Groark (Episcopal Academy) recorded her third-consecutive hat trick, finishing with three goals on four attempts. Lauren Iorio has recorded a goal in each of the first four games of the season, already matching her scoring total entering the campaign.
Megan Sanelli (Methacton) scored in her season debut, recording her fourth goal of her career and Kate Kaptrosky added two goals for her second multi-goal game this season. Bella Micelli (3) and Claire Fowler (2) combined for five caused turnovers.
Jorden Concordia earned her first win of the season with seven saves on a .500 save percentage. The shot stopper added five ground balls and a caused turnover on the day.
St. Joe’s nearly doubled Temple with a 36-19 advantage in shots. The Hawks secured a 13-9 margin in draws and forced the Owls into 23 turnovers.
Saint Joseph’s broke a four-game losing streak to Temple with the win.
For Temple, Lexi Culp (Cardinal O’Hara) had two goals and an assist and Emily Liverio had two goals.
