Kupprion has coached more than 15 high school seasons at standout programs including The Haverford School, Episcopal Academy, Lower Merion High School and Moorestown High School. As a player, Kupprion was a multi-sport athlete at Episcopal Academy and went on to play four years of Division I lacrosse as an attackman at the University of Delaware. He later earned his M.Ed. , and recently completed his Mental Performance Mastery certification (MPM, 2025). These academic and athletic experiences continue to shape his holistic, educational approach to coaching.
Over the years, Kupprion has helped over 500+ boys continue on to play college lacrosse through his High School Coaching and his club leadership at NXT, with dozens going on to become college captains, All-Americans, and professionals. His former players include standouts like PLL Rookie of the Year TJ Malone, PLL All-Star and Team USA midfielder Ryan Terefenko, and earlier coaching years included Matt Rambo and Jordan Wolf, now widely regarded as legends of the sport.
Coach Kupp is now based in Moorestown, NJ, coaching at Moorestown High School, where his wife Jenny grew up and where they are raising their son Jack and twin daughters Charlotte and Lizzy – Marty is proud to lead in the South Jersey community he calls home.
At Blue Star, he will be based full-time at the Blue Star Performance Center (BSPC) in Medford, New Jersey- overseeing club operations, supporting families, and coaching across all levels. He’s especially focused on enhancing athlete development through intentional programming, pro player engagement, and systems that support the whole person – not just the player.
Kupprion joins a leadership team he’s long admired, including M.V. Whitlow, Don Green, Bryan Hopper.
“I’ve already been incredibly impressed by the players, the talented and dynamic coaching staff, and how well everyone communicates,” Kupprion shares. “There’s a clear culture here, and it’s going to be really fun to be in the mix now with the South Jersey lacrosse community.”
Kupprion is also thrilled to be working closely with Nick Taylor, a longtime friend from their years coaching together and Nick’s time as a NCAA Head Coach at Haverford College. Nick now serves as Blue Star’s High School Recruiting Coordinator and helps lead the high school teams on and off the field.
Coach Kupprion adds, “It’s exciting to work alongside incredible coaches like Nick again – as well as the entire Blue Star staff, which includes local South Jersey high school coaches, professionals, and Blue Star alumni who have come back to serve the next generation of players and families. This is an extremely connected , respected and committed group.”
He’s especially excited to support the continued growth of the Blue Star Girls program alongside Maddie Terefenko, bringing his experience from coaching one of the top girls Box Lacrosse teams in the nation last winter to help both athletes and coaches thrive.
“Coach Kupp is the right person to optimize Blue Star Lacrosse and its student athletes,” Don Green, Blue Star Co-Founder. “He brings passion, professionalism, and a deep understanding of what matters in youth sports – not just developing players, but helping shape great people.”
In addition to his leadership role at Blue Star, Coach Kupp will continue working with Greenepsych, where he serves as a certified Mental Performance Mastery coach, further serving athletes, coaches, and families beyond lacrosse. His approach emphasizes mindfulness, communication, and support for the entire sport system. Kupprion was a Featured Presenter at the Philly Coaches Conference in May. The focus on mindset and emotional development is and will continue to grow as a differentiator in the development of healthy student athletes and young families.
Kupprion also credits several key mentors for shaping his coaching journey:
– John Wynne – Episcopal Academy
– Bob Shillinglaw – University of Delaware
– From his time at NXT: Andy Hayes, Peter Lawrence, Brett Manney, Bill Leahy, and Tony Resch
“At the end of the day, I just love teaching,” Kupprion says. “I love helping young athletes build skills, find confidence, have fun with their teammates, and feel supported by great coaches and great families. That’s what this is all about.”
