Alvernia University Director of Athletics and Recreation Cory Beddick announced on Friday the hiring of Upper Merion alum Michael Zadroga as the next head coach for Alvernia Men’s Lacrosse.

Zadroga joins Alvernia after two years with Lawrence University in Wisconsin, where he was the first head coach in program history.

“We are thrilled to add Coach Zadroga to the Alvernia Athletics family,” said Beddick. “I am confident that our Men’s Lacrosse program is poised to thrive under his leadership.”

Zadroga coached the Vikings to a 5-11 overall record in their inaugural season, and a ninth-place finish in the 12-team Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The Vikings also placed two student-athletes on the All-NACC team.

“Zadroga is a dynamic leader with a vision for the program that involves excellent recruitment, development, and competitive success,” added Beddick. “Mikey’s ties to the area will allow him to hit the ground running and build upon the recent success of the program. We could not be more excited about the next era of Golden Wolves Men’s Lacrosse!”

Zadroga is originally from King of Prussia and is a 2014 graduate of Upper Merion. Zadroga went on to play collegiately at Marquette University in Wisconsin. He returned home to coach at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown and teach eighth grade English at Northwest Middle School in Reading.

“I am beyond excited to return home and lead the Men’s Lacrosse program at Alvernia,” said Zadroga. “The campus is beautiful, the facilities are outstanding, and the support from the University is special. I’m drawn to Alvernia’s mission and values, and firmly believe in the academic opportunities it offers to prepare students to become leaders in their communities.”

At Lawrence, Zadroga was tasked with building the program from scratch. He recruited and built a roster of over 40 players from three countries and 16 states in two years. Prior to his time at Lawrence, Zadroga was the head coach for Division II Davis and Elkins in West Virginia, and also made a stop at Division I Canisius in Buffalo, New York. Zadroga’s coaching career began at Owen J. Roberts. He led the Wildcats to a 15-7 season and an appearance in the conference championship and District 1AAA tournament.

“I am looking forward to building off of last season’s momentum,” said Zadroga. “I am eager to grow and strengthen the roster in order to take the next step; making the MAC Commonwealth tournament and competing for a MAC Commonwealth Championship.”

Zadroga was a stand-out player for Upper Merion High School, tallying 195 career points. He played club lacrosse with Duke’s LC and Main Line Lacrosse Club. He went on to play collegiately at Division I Marquette, where he earned his bachelor’s in communication in 2019. He then earned his Master’s in Education from Cabrini in 2022.

Zadroga coached Big 4 Triple H club lacrosse while at Owen J. Roberts, and co-founded Construct Lacrosse, a club program in Wisconsin.

“I am excited to be back in Pennsylvania, where I have deep ties to the lacrosse community and where my wife and I are planting roots,” added Zadroga.

“I would like to thank Lawrence University, the athletics department, and especially the players for an unforgettable two years,” said Zadrogra. “We went from nothing to a roster of over 40 outstanding young men. I also want to thank Cory Beddick and Alvernia University for the opportunity to lead the program into its next chapter.”

Zadroga will begin with Alvernia later this month.
