The United States improved to 3-0 in pool play at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s Box Championship with a 28-2 victory over Hong Kong, China at the Utica University Nexus Center today.
Coming off of a physical and emotional 11-4 victory over the Haudenosaunee on Saturday night, the U.S. jumped out quickly with three goals in the opening three minutes of Sunday afternoon’s win.

Thirteen different players scored goals for the U.S. and 17 had at least one point.
Molly Garrett led the offense with a team-high seven points on four goals and three assists while Charlotte North led the U.S. with six goals. Ally Kennedy and Melissa Sconone each registered hat tracks while Erin Bakes (2g) and Courtney Taylor matched Garrett’s team-high three assists.
Taylor Moreno played the first 30 minutes in goal for the U.S. and made four saves while allowing just one goal. Madison Doucette (Unionville) closed out the victory, by allowing just one goal in the second half while making three saves. Courtney Taylor (Central Bucks South/Temple) had three assists for the USA.
Sumyeut Cheng and Cherry Hon scored Hong Kong’s goals and Claudia Chan made 59 saves (41 in the first half). Sum Tang also had seven saves for Hong Kong.
Following three games in three days, the U.S. will have an off day on Monday before completing pool play against England on Tuesday at 1 pm.
Men’s
Team USA 23, England 3
The United States offense continued to sizzle as the Americans beat England 23-3 in pool play during the World Lacrosse Men’s Box Championship at the Adirondack Bank Center.
The U.S. scored its goals in bunches, stringing together three goals in just 23 seconds during the first quarter, three in a span of 46 seconds in the second quarter and three in the opening 87 seconds of the second half.
Jack Hannah led the way with six goals, giving him a team-leading nine in the first two games of the tournament. Connor Kirst added four goals, Mac O’Keefe had a hat trick and Joe Resetarits had a team-high seven points on a goal and six assists. Ryan Terefenko (Wilson) had two assists for the Americans.
Drew Hutchinson went the distance in goal for the U.S. and made 28 saves while blanking England over the final 34 minutes of the game.
The U.S. (2-0) has on off-day on Monday and will then close out pool play on Tuesday night at 8 pm against five-time event champion Canada. That game will be played at the Mary C. Winder Community Center – Oneida Indian Nation’s new 90,000-square-foot community center – as part of an event partnership with the Turning Stone Resort Casino.
