USA Lacrosse has named the staffs for the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Sixes National Teams ahead of a training camp for both programs at USA Lacrosse headquarters from June 10-12. Earlier this spring,Lindsey Munday (women’s) and Andy Shay (men’s) were named as head coaches for the respective programs.
Women’s Staff
Joining Munday’s staff will be Michele Tumolo (Clearview Regional-NJ) as an assistant coach, Ian MacKeag as team physician, Ashley Holmes as certified athletic trainer and Nicole Shattuck as strength and conditioning coach.
Tumolo, the head lacrosse coach at Army West Point, has a long history with the U.S. National Team Program as a player and coach. Tumolo was an all-world selection after helping the U.S. win the World Cup in 2017 and is an assistant coach for the U.S. U20 team that will compete for a world championship this summer in Hong Kong, China. In six seasons as a college head coach at Army and Wagner, Tumolo has gone 65-31 while leading both schools to the NCAA tournament. An All-American player at Syracuse, Tumolo also served as an assistant coach at Florida, Oregon and Syracuse.
MacKeag is the sports medicine physician at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A former high school and college (Indiana University) lacrosse player, MacKeag was the medical director for the lacrosse venue at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham.
Holmes is back for her second stint with the U.S. program after working with the 2019 U.S. women’s U19 team that won gold in Peterborough, Ontario. Holmes is the associate athletic trainer at the McDonogh School (Md.) and has worked with the school’s nationally-recognized girls’ lacrosse team since 2012. She also served as ATC for Argentina at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship.
Shattuck is also the strength & conditioning coach for the inaugural U.S. women’s box team that will compete at the world championship in September. She is the senior sports performance coach at Duke University and has worked with the women’s lacrosse program since 2021.
Men’s Staff
Joining Shay’s staff will be Tony Resch as an assistant coach, Kyle Yost as team physician, Rebecca Vozzo as certified athletic trainer and Matt Nein as strength and conditioning coach.
Resch, a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, has been a major contributor to the national team program as a player and coach. An All-American at Yale, he helped the 1990 U.S. men’s team to the world championship. He was an assistant coach for the gold-medal winning 2010 and 2018 U.S. teams and was the head coach for the 2015 U.S. box team that won bronze. At the professional level, he was the head coach for four NLL championship teams with the Philadelphia Wings and two MLL champions with the Philadelphia Barrage. The associate head coach at national high school power La Salle College and Penn Charter alum, Resch also coaches in the PLL with the Utah Archers and helped them to the league championship in 2023.
Yost is the team physician for the University of Maryland-College Park and has provided direct medical support for the men’s lacrosse program since 2017.
Vozzo has been an associate athletic trainer at the University of Virginia since 2009 and directly supports the men’s lacrosse program. A graduate of James Madison, she previously worked with the men’s lacrosse programs at Hampden-Sydney and Quinnipiac.
Nein is the assistant director of athletics & recreation, coordinator of sports performance at Salisbury University where he works with both the men’s and women’s lacrosse programs. In two decades of work at Salisbury, he has worked with 13 national championship teams.
Sixes is the discipline of the sport that will be played in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. It will also be contested for women in The World Games 2025 in China and World Lacrosse is scheduled to hold its inaugural sixes world championship in 2026.
The current sixes staffs will make their competition debuts at the USA Lacrosse Experience in Indianapolis this October.
