Archbishop Carroll advanced to its fourth straight PIAA 2A girls’ championship game Tuesday by defeating Bishop Shanahan, 4-1, in a strict defensive battle at Lower Merion.

The Patriots (20-2), No. 1 in the PA State Lacrosse Rankings all year, will again meet Twin Valley in the title game Saturday at 10 a.m. at Penn State’s Panzer Stadium. Carroll defeated Twin Valley in the 2022 final, 10-8, and 17-5 in last year’s title game, the first one ever played at Panzer.

Twin Valley (21-6) advanced with a 10-9 win over Villa Maria Academy at Exeter.

In Carroll’s win over pesky Shanahan (17-8), Morgan Wood, Brooke Hippert, Sam Hewitt, and Kate O’Neill scored as defenses were stingy on both sides. O’Neill’s goal put Carroll ahead for good, 2-1, in the third period on an EMO that led to the final three goals. Chloe Bleckley had four draw controls and Mei Rader had 4 saves to earn the win.

Shanahan’s lone goal was scored by Emma McGlothlin, and Izzy Sawicki had 5 stops.

Twin Valley was led by Ellie Kaplan (3G, 1A, 12DC), Anna Givens (2G, 1A, 1DC), Kylie Duke (2G) and Hadley Munn (2G). Sophia Tray had S. Tray five goals and an assist for VMA (18-7).
