The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association is accepting nominations for the Chapter Hall of Fame. Incoming awardees will be recognized at the PLA’s Hall of Fame Banquet in September/October 2025 at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown.
The deadlines for nominating Men’s and Women’s Division candidates for induction into the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter, Class of 2023, are as follows:
Women’s Division Nominations: October 15, 2024
Men’s Division Inductees: October 14, 2024
The PLA hosts the induction ceremony every two years to honor the great players, coaches, officials, promoters and others, both men and women, who have made significant contributions to the game in Pennsylvania and are deserving of the highest recognition. Players who finished their high school career in 2015 or earlier are eligible for consideration for the Class of 2025.
The Hall of Fame Nomination/Questionnaire Forms and the PLA’s Hall of Fame Selection Criteria are at bottom or by contacting Bill Leahy, Chair, PLA’s Men’s HOF Selection Committee or Cathy D’Ignazio, Chair, PLA Women’s HOF Selection Committee.
The incoming class will be selected later this year following a balloting process, consideration by the PLA Hall of Fame Selection Committees and a vote by the PLA Board of Directors, based on the recommendations of the Selection Committees. Please forward letters of support (no more than two) with the completed nomination form by the deadline to the attention of the Hall of Fame Men’s Selection Committee Chair.
Also, please send David Seidman (Men’s HOF Selection Committee, davidseidman@mac.com) your name, email address and nexus to the lacrosse community if you wish to participate in the balloting process for the Men’s HOF Division selection. If you participate, you will be asked to rank the nominees, and all results will be tabulated to inform the Men’s HOF Division selection process. All input is welcome.
The HOF Selection Committees consist of existing Hall of Famers and other uniquely qualified individuals in the Philadelphia lacrosse community. The Men’s Division committee includes Bill Leahy (Chair), Drew Adams, John Begier, Pat Carney, Scott Gabrielsen, Scott Growney, Tom Lemieux, John McEvoy, Jeff Pettit, Hank Resch, Tony Resch, and David Seidman. The Women’s Division Committee comprises Cathy D’Ignazio (Chair), Lynn Bowers, Betsy Dougherty, Michele Doyle, Diane Horsey, Kathleen Geiger, and Chris Poplowski.
The names, pictures and lacrosse biographies of inductees will be posted in the Hall of Fame section of the PLA and US Lacrosse websites. Their names and pictures will also join previous Hall of Fame inductees on plaques located with other lacrosse-related memorabilia in display cases at the “Wall of Fame,” which is located at United Sports in Downingtown. It is a requirement of the USA Lacrosse National Hall of Fame that a nominee for that prestigious honor first be inducted into a Chapter Hall of Fame.
