Matt Moore (Garnet Valley) won two national championships as a Virginia Cavalier. Now, after returning this month from a serious injury, the former Cavalier is a two-time Premier Lacrosse League Champion as well.

Moore collected two goals and one assist and had the tally that helped the Utah Archers break away as they claimed their second-consecutive PLL title, defeating the Maryland Whipsnakes 12-8 on Sunday afternoon at Chester’s Subaru Park to claim the 2024 PLL title.

Moore battled back from a right AC joint sprain and briefly exited today’s game with an injury before providing a big spark for the Archers. In the final minute of the first quarter, the Archers trailed 3-0 before Moore got the Archers on track with a crafty spin-move dodge and a goal.

Grant Ament (Haverford School, Penn State) soon put the Archers ahead, 5-4, but Rookie of the Year TJ Malone (Haverford School, Penn State) fed Ryan Conrad (3 goals) for a 5-5 tie. O’Keefe scored to make it 6-5, and then Malone fed Conrad again for a 6-6 tie.

But Moore responded with an unassisted leaning goal to put the Archers back in front and Ryan Ambler (Abington, Princeton) assisted on a Dyson Williams tally to make it 8-6 after 3 periods. Moore assisted on a Tre Leclaire tally and O’Keefe made it 10-6. The Whipsnakes got as close as 11-8, but Ament fed O’Keefe for a 12-8 final.

For the Whipsnakes, Malone had four assists and Matt Rambo (La Salle) had one goal. Michael Sisselberger (Southern Lehigh, Lehigh Univ.) won 7 of 21 faceoffs for the Archers.
