Graduate student Gabby Schneider along with seniors Hayley Hunt (Penn Charter) and Olivia Memeger (Strath Haven) were named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
A three-time first-team All-Patriot League honoree, Schneider ranks first in program history in career assists with 117. Last season, the Smithtown, N.Y. native scored 44 goals and dished out 27 assists. Schneider tallied her 100th career goal against Penn on April 4, 2023.
A mainstay in the goal from Philadelphia, Hunt started in all 18 games last season, making 169 saves. In 2023, she was named first team All-Patriot League and received Goalkeeper of the Week honors twice (3/13 and 5/1). Hunt finished second in the Patriot League in saves per game with an average of 9.39.
Last season, Memeger scored 48 and had 27 assists, compiling a team-leading 75 points. The Swarthmore, Pa. native posted 14 multi-goal games and six hat tricks leading to a first team All-Patriot League selection.
The Mountain Hawks ranked fourth in the preseason poll after finishing 12-6 (6-3 PL) last season. Lehigh defeated Holy Cross in last year’s Patriot League quarterfinal before falling to eventual champion Loyola in the semifinals. Loyola tops the poll with 162 points and 18 first-place votes, followed by Army (140 points, 2 first-place votes) and Navy (132) ahead of Lehigh (118).
Lehigh began preseason practice last week in anticipation of its Feb. 9 season-opener against Delaware at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
