Zachary Leo Drake, 27, of Chalfont, former La Salle College High standout, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Born January 13, 1997 in Danbury, CT, he was the beloved son of James W. and Joanne (Neverman) Drake.

Zachary Leo Drake

Zach had attended La Salle in Wyndmoor prior to earning his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Lehigh University and his Master’s degree in Counseling from Messiah University. In addition to being an intelligent and gifted student who always excelled academically, Zach was a talented athlete who enjoyed playing lacrosse for the love of the game. Despite all of his successes, he always remained humble and was not one to ever brag about awards and achievements. He had recently been working as a counselor at the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute where Zach found his true passion for helping others. Most of all, Zach was known as a loving, kind, and generous man who loved his family deeply and cared for everyone he met. Zach was truly the brightest light in every room he was in.

Surviving in addition to his parents is his sister, Alexis Drake; his maternal grandmother, Rita Neverman; his uncle and godfather, Fred Neverman and wife Tina; his aunt and godmother, Barbara Neverman; his aunt, Valerie Ryan and husband Ed; and his cousins: Christopher Neverman and wife Nicole, Kate Karich and husband Michael, Nicholas Neverman and wife Molly, Jake Neverman, and James and Conor Ryan. Zach was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Joan Marie Drake and by his maternal great-grandparents, Frank and Vincenza Cioffari.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 15 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg, where there will be a visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NAMI of Cumberland and Perry Counties, P.O. Box 534, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
