For the second time in three years, Conestoga’s Amy Orcutt has been named the National Federation High School/PIAA Girls’ Lacrosse Coach of the Year.
Orcutt guided the Pioneers (21-4) to their third PIAA crown and second in three years this spring, culminating with a dominant 10-4 victory over Radnor in the 3A final. Orcutt – who began her head coaching career at Agnes Irwin in 2004 and took over the Conestoga program in 2009 – has 292 career wins and also won a state title in 2016.
In the 2024 title game at Penn State, the Pioneers avenged two earlier losses to Radnor.
“Having lost to Radnor twice, in the Central League championship and District championship, we knew we had to come together and make some changes to win the state championship,” Orcutt said. “I am so proud of the girls for executing the game plan and playing as a team that day. Our team was led by 17 incredible seniors who set the tone in practice every day – they will be missed next year.
“I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many amazing coaches every day – everyone brings something special to the group and that’s why we work so well together.”
Orcutt also was named the Regional Coach of the Year two years ago after being selected as Coach of the Year.
Conestoga finished ranked No. 18 this year in the Inside Lacrosse/Q-Collar Girls Top 25 National Public School Rankings.
