Virginia Commonwealth Lacrosse junior goalkeeper Ahnika Eberl (of Schalick HS-NJ, Dynasty Elite) has been named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Virginia Tech.

Eberl, who was making her first career start, made 11 saves on 21 shot attempts. She recorded a save percentage of .524 during the contest. It marks her first career Atlantic 10 weekly award.
Eberl’s saves, along with VCU’s defense, held Virginia Tech scoreless for a 30:46 stretch of game action from 3:14 in the first quarter until the Hokies got a goal with 2:28 left in the third quarter. VCU ultimately lost the contest 10-5 in Blacksburg, Va.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katie Shallow • Sr. • Temple • Havertown, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara/Dynasty
Shallow led a Temple defense that limited Colgate to only five goals (two in the second half) and 11 shots in an 11-5 Owls victory. Shallow led all players with six ground balls and five caused turnovers as part of a unit that forced 21 Raider turnovers and held Colgate scoreless for the final 11:03.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Ava Bleckley • D • Fr. • James Madison • Newtown Square, Pa./Archbishop Carroll
Bleckley was a starter in her collegiate debut as she helped James Madison to a 19-18 overtime win against No. 3 North Carolina. She had two ground balls to go with a key caused turnover that led to a fast-break goal that gave the Dukes a 17-15 fourth-quarter lead.

A-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Cristofero Cucciuffo – G – Soph., – St. Bonaventure – Easton, Pa/ Moravian Academy
St. Bonaventure sophomore Cristofero Cucciuffo was chosen as the A-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Cucciuffo made 17 saves in the Bonnies’ season-opener Sunday versus Bellarmine. A goalkeeper from Easton, Pa., he allowed 13 goals for a .567 save percentage.
