From Press Release

The Neumann men’s lacrosse team defeated visiting Drew, 10-8, in a non-conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

Brendan Boschi had five goals and two assists, while Renzo Garone had two goals to lead Neumann. Jake Methlie (Springfield-Delco) won 8 of 19 faceoffs and scooped eight ground balls and Callum Labonte caused four turnovers. Owen Avelar (Methacton) was strong in goal with 22 saves.

It took both teams some time to warm up but at the 9:21 mark, Boschi got Neumann started for a 1-0 lead. Over the last 7:55 over the first, Drew rattled off four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead. Emmett Wexler ended the Rangers run, but Luke Sykes (Pope John Paul II) scored an unassisted goal at the 10:50 mark before, Boschi tied the game with 2:29 left in the half, knotting the game at four after 30 minutes of play.

1:17 into the third, Renzo Garone gave the Knights the lead, and they didn’t look back. A minute and a half later, Gannon McKee (Garnet Valley) opened his 2024 account and at the 3:10 mark Boschi grabbed the hat trick for a three goal Neumann lead. Drew ended the Knights run with 81 seconds left in the third. That ended six-goal stretch for Neumann.

Early in the fourth, the Rangers pulled within one. The Knights then went on a three-goal stretch as Boschi scored twice more, along with a goal by Garone, extending the lead to four. At the 5:41 mark, Drew scored twice in 36 seconds, but the Neumann defense held strong for the duration, sealing the win.
