Women’s Coach’s Poll: Bryn Athyn picked to win CSAC

Bryn Athyn College was selected as the favorite in the 2023 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) preseason poll conducted among the league’s women’s lacrosse coaches.

Coming off their first CSAC championship and first NCAA Tournament berth, Bryn Athyn collected six out of seven first-place votes for a total of 48 points. Notre Dame (MD) comes in second with 41 points after falling to Bryn Athyn in the CSAC Tournament championship in 2022.

Wilson College opens up in third place with 36 points as the Phoenix were defeated by Notre Dame (MD) in the CSAC Semi-Finals in 2022. Cedar Crest and Keystone are tied with 23 points for the fourth spot in the preseason rankings.

Sweet Briar, in its second season as an affiliate member of the CSAC, collected 18 points after the Vixens just missed the CSAC playoffs in 2022. Cairn received 7 votes as the Highlanders enter the CSAC in their first year with varsity status.

Initial contests begin on Wednesday, February 22nd as Sweet Briar hosts Randolph College at 3pm. CSAC league play begins on Tuesday, April 4th as Cairn travels to Wilson at 4pm.

The CSAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship will take place the week of May 1st. On Wednesday, May 3rd semi-finals will be played at top seeds with the championship game played on Saturday, May 6th.

The winner of the CSAC Championship will earn an Automatic Qualifier to the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Selection Sunday will occur on Sunday, May 7th with opening round opponents to be determined.
