Wesleyan assistant Pilat named head men’s coach at Immaculata

Paul Murphy, Immaculata University Director of Athletics and Recreation, announced that Will Pilat has been named Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach.

“I am ecstatic to have someone with Will’s enthusiasm and commitment leading our men’s lacrosse program. Having played and coached at a high level, he is no stranger to what it takes to be part of a winning tradition,” said Murphy. “His strong family values and high character are exactly what we look for in our athletic department and I could not be more excited to help support Will’s transition from an Associate Head Coach, at a perennial Top 25 program, to his new position as the Head Coach at Immaculata.”

Pilat came to Immaculata after spending seven years with the Wesleyan University Men’s Lacrosse coaching staff, including the past four years as Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. While with Wesleyan Pilat worked with offense and goalies, helping the Cardinals offense that averaged over 16 goals per game during the 2023 season. While assisting with the goalkeepers, Pilat helped mentor two All-American selections. He was a member of the 2017 and 2018 IMLCA Northeast Region Coaching Staff of the year.

“I would like to thank Director of Athletics Paul Murphy and the search committee for believing in me to lead the men of Immaculata lacrosse into the future,” said Pilat of his opportunity to be the Mighty Macs next head coach.

Pilat recently earned his master’s degree from Wesleyan in Graduate Level Liberal Studies.

Pilat, is a 2016 graduate of Roanoke College. He served as Roanoke’s team captain during his senior season, In 2015 and 2016 Pilat was named a USILA All-America Honorable Mention selection as an attackman. He was named a USILA Scholar All-American during his senior season in 2016. Pilat finished his career at Roanoke in the top 10 scorers in program history while playing for his father, Bill Pilat, who has spent the past 35 years as Roanoke’s Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach.
