Alexa Vogelman (Owen J. Roberts, Syracuse signee) scored four goals and was named MVP in helping the South defeat the North, 14-10, tonight in the New Balance Girls’ Senior All-America Game at Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood Field.
“Playing in the All- American senior game is an absolute honor!” said Vogelman. “To play amongst the best players in the county in the atmosphere at Homewood is a feeling like no other. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity, and so happy to have played with and again all of the players at the event.
” I have my teammates to thank!! Our team was unbelievably gritty and quick, and the toughness that we showcased in the game led to some amazing goals and opportunities for players. To earn the MVP title is something that I am so grateful for and have my teammates and coaches to thank for helping me earn that.”

Vogelman also had a draw control and a caused turnover as Philly girls made major contributions to the win.
Also, Ava Bleckley (Archbishop Carroll) collected five groundballs, five caused turnovers, and a draw control while Alexis Ventresca (Episcopal Academy) had two goals and an assist and a groundball. Also, Gabbi Koury (Owen J. Roberts) had a goal, two groundballs, and two draw controls while Lydia Colasante (Tatnall School) added two caused turnovers and a groundball and Annabelle Schafer (Hill School) had a caused turnover.
Vogelman and Koury led OJ Roberts to the PIAA championships and a 27-1 season. The two have played together for more than 6 years in high school and club lacrosse for NXT.
“To finish off on top with my best friend Gabbi means everything to me,” Vogelman said. “She has been with me Day 1 since second grade and we have done everything together since that day. In the next month we will go our different ways for college, so playing in games like this one with her means the world to me!! She will always be my partner in crime, as she has pushed me and taught me so much about the game of lacrosse. I can’t wait to watch her kill it at Florida.”
Vogelman said she’s ready for the challenge of playing at Syracuse, where the goal is a National championship.
“The transition from high school to college lacrosse is not easy as the intensity and pace of the game is different,” she said. “This opportunity has given me a boost of confidence heading into Syracuse for sure, but I know there is a lot of work to be done and lessons to be learned! But I am so ready to embark on this new journey!!”
