Ben Guagliardo is catching up in the recruiting process.

The Upper Dublin 2024 midfielder who plays for Bucks Select/True Philly was happy with his improvements from sophomore to junior year when he scored 18 goals and earned All-Suburban One American Honor Mention after playing mostly JV as a sophomore. Now, as he gears for the Victory Events Beast National Showcase at Delaware Turf, he is hoping to catch the eye of college recruiters.

“A lot of my teammates said my jump from sophomore year to junior year was crazy,” said Guagliardo. “I think what helped is that my passing with my left hand is very similar to my right.

“I want to get my name out there. I want to get schools to look at me and I want to win!”

There are spots open at all positions for the Beast National Showcase, open for boys in the Classes of 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027.

Guagliardo said his strengths are using both hands, his two-way ability and his dodging.

“I would say my shot is strong,” he said. “I mostly use my right hand but my left is strong and I am able to dodge from the wings pretty well.

“I am working on my left. I’m out about every day practicing on my left and on didges from behind the cage.”

Guagliardo is considering Business as a major, but has an open mind about college destinations and study.

“I am e-mailing colleges,” he said. “I am not looking anywhere specifically, just a school that I would like outside of lacrosse. One that is a fit academically and athletically.”

How does he approach competing in showcases?

“I just try to become friends with all the kids so we can build team chemistry as quick as possible,” he said. “That leads to us working better together on the field and better all around play.”
