Phillylacrosse Honorable Mention Coaches of the Year, 2023

Boys’ Team Coaches

John Begier, Radnor – He led the Raptors to their third straight PIAA 3A championship, the Central League title, and a 23-3 record.

Tom Lemieux, Springfield-Delco – He led the Cougars to the District 1 3A championship, a berth in the PIAA finals and a 22-3 record.

Kevin Merchant, Marple Newtown – He led the Tigers to their first PIAA 2A championship and a 20-5 record,

Chris Pianko, Pennridge – He led the Rams to its first Suburban One National Conference championship, an 18-4 record and the program’s first PIAA playoff berth.

Girls’ Team Coaches:

Marissa Conover, Springfield-Montco – She led the Spartans to a share of their first Suburban One American Conference championship and an 18-2 record.

Becky Cartee-Haring, Mount St. Joseph – She led the Magic to its first District 1 2A championship and an 18-8 record.

Kimberly Frantz, Upper Moreland – She led the Bears to a share of their first Suburban One American Conference championship, a berth in the PIAA 2A tournament and a 20-4 record.

Josie Tomaino, Episcopal Academy – She led EA to an undefeated Inter-Ac League championship and a 16-3 record.
