Hofstra University Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Seth Tierney announced this week a group of five student-athletes who will serve as captains and assistant captains for the Pride in 2024.
Named as captains are: Chase Patterson (Council Rock South), Blake Cooling, and Sam Lutfi.

Richie Hickis and Rory Jones were named assistant captains.
Patterson, the Nick Colleluori Tribute Award recipient for 2023, is a graduate student in his fifth year with the program. He has played in 43 games and won 56% of his face-offs during his career. He hails from Richboro, Pennsylvania.
“These five young men are great representatives of our lacrosse program and Hofstra University,” commented Tierney. “We look forward to them leading us through this journey and know the five of them will provide guidance and outstanding leadership to our entire team.”
Cooling, a three-year member of the program, played in 11 games last season after redshirting in 2022. A native of Cary, North Carolina, he attended Cardinal Gibbons High School.
Lutfi, now in his fifth season with the Pride, has played in 20 games during his career and totaled 28 points on 15 goals and 13 assists. A native of Massapequa, New York, he attended Massapequa High School.
Hickis, a five-year member of the program, is also a graduate student and has played in 27 games during his career. He has also totaled 28 ground balls. A native of Farmingdale, New York, he attended Farmingdale High School.
Jones, now in his third year at Hofstra, has played in 29 games during his career with 38 goals and 16 assists. He also has 22 ground balls during his two years on the field. A native of Abingdon, Maryland, he attended the St. Paul’s School.
