Rosemont College was selected as the favorite in the 2023 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) preseason poll conducted among the league’s men’s lacrosse coaches.
Rosemont collected three first-place votes for a total of 14 points. The Ravens finished last season 2-2 in CSAC play and finished their season in the CSAC Tournament Semi-Finals bowing out to NCAA Tournament-bound Stockton University. Cairn comes in second place with 10 points headed up by a new head coach, Stephen Hogan, who will lead the Highlanders into their third season of competition in 2023.
Ravens Coach Ernie Shapiro said, “It’s exciting to be recognized by our peers, of course! Our goal every year is to compete for the Conference Championship, and our men are really focused on building on last year’s success. We’re looking forward to the spring, for sure!”
Bryn Athyn, comes in third with 9 total points, as the Lions look to improve on a 1-5 CSAC record from last season. Keystone College picked up one first-place vote and finished the preseason poll with 7 total points.
Initial games begin on Saturday, February 18th as Alvernia University visits Rosemont at 2pm. CSAC league play begins on Wednesday, April 5th when Rosemont visits Cairn at 4pm.
This season the CSAC has entered into a partnership with the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) that will allow all seven institutions to be eligible for automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championships.
As part of the agreement, the NECC and the CSAC will form their own “division”. Each division will play its own regular season with the CSAC and NECC champion meeting on the campus of the CSAC champion on Saturday, May 6th.
