Kyle Lehman (Wissahickon, Freedom/Penn State signee) says that playing with and against the top seniors in the country Saturday was as motivating as he had dreamed.
“It was an incredible experience that filled me with excitement and motivation to perform at my best,” said Lehman, who scored four goals for the South in a 22-16 defeat to the North Saturday night in the New Balance Senior All-America Game at Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood Field. “Being surrounded by such talented athletes gives you the confidence to play well. Spending the weekend with these lacrosse players allowed me to connect with them beyond the highlights we see on social media.”
What went well for you to collect four goals?
“Playing with such talented teammates made the ball movement swift and precise, creating lots of scoring opportunities,” he said. “Their unselfish plays created openings for some easy goals, and the adrenaline of playing on a grand stage with a huge audience fueled my desire to take shots and execute dodges. Going 4 for 4 on shooting was incredibly satisfying.”
Does this give you more confidence heading to State College to play Division 1 lacrosse?
“Playing in the All-American Senior lacrosse game and performing well has definitely given me a confidence boost as I prepare to join Penn State for Division 1 lacrosse, Lehman said. “Being a part of this great event alongside such talented athletes gives me reassurance that I I’m capable of competing at a higher level. I’m grateful for the experience and eager to continue learning and growing as a player in college. I’ll do my best to contribute to the team’s success while staying humble and focused on improvement.
“This game was definitely a nice experience to cap to my high school career. It’s a wholesome and memorable way to conclude this chapter of my life, sharing the field with like-minded individuals who have also worked hard to reach this point. The opportunity to bring together the nation’s top lacrosse talents and play on one field as high schoolers is an experience I won’t forget. As I look forward to the next chapter, I’m excited to see the growth of these athletes, including myself, as we transition into collegiate play and potentially become stars at the next level.”
Also from Philly, AJ Nikolic (Malvern Prep/Cornell) had two groundballs, and Wills Burt (Haverford School/Virginia) added one groundball for the South. Meanwhile, North goalie Patrick Jameison (Episcopal School-VA, formerly Conestoga/Duke) made 4 saves in the second half.
