Former Penn Charter standout lacrosse player Colin Barnes Still, age 33, beloved husband to Ericha Lutter Still, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 8th, 2023, due to complications from a medical procedure.
Still was an All-American and First0Team All-Phillylacrosse.con pick and an All-EPLSA pick in 2007 and 2008 (senior year) and served as captain in 2008 while leading Penn Charter to the EPLSA semifinals. He was a key member of the Yale University teams that won Ivy league championship in 2010 and 2012.
Colin was born on October 4th, 1989, to Jill Wilcox Still and James Still in Abington, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of the William Penn Charter School in 2008 and went on to graduate from Yale University in 2012.
Colin will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his passion for life, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved. He was a fierce competitor, but also an incredibly loyal teammate and friend. Colin was a cornerstone piece in our 2010 and 2012 Ivy Championships. He was a dedicated steward of the program after graduation as well. Colin was always quick to help current players with internships and advice. He was the first to sign up to speak to the current team over zoom during the pandemic. He loved being a Bulldog and helping Bulldogs.” – Yale coach Andy Shay
After graduating with a degree in Political Science from Yale, he started his career at Merrill Lynch in the trading division. After positions with Glade Brook Capital and Soros Fund Management, he was a senior equities trader at Point72 in New York, New York.
In 2019, Colin met the love of his life, Ericha Lutter, in New York City. They were married in June of 2022 in Chatham, Massachusetts. Ironically, Colin and Ericha grew up a matter of miles from each other in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia. They have two wonderful English mastiffs, Winston and Franklin, named after historical figures that Colin revered. The two parents and dogs frequented the trails of northern New Jersey, but their favorite jaunts included the beaches of southern New Jersey and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Colin is survived by his parents, Jill and James Still, and his beloved brothers, Ryan Douglas Still and Derek Stewart Still. He is also survived by Corinne Still, wife of Ryan, and Devon Still, wife of Derek. He is survived on his wife’s side by Patricia Brown Lutter, Frank Lutter, and Marcia Lutter, and Ericha’s brothers Frankie Lutter, Oliver Lutter and Kurt Lutter, and sisters Lindsay Laudal, Casey Lutter, and Lorraine King. He had a special love for his ten nieces and nephews. He is also survived by multiple beloved cousins.
Colin had a soul and intellectual curiosity that was unbounding in its energy. The breadth of his friendships with high school, college, and post-college peers was a joyous part of his and Ericha’s lives. He was a collegiate lacrosse player at Yale University, playing for a team that helped to rebuild the Yale lacrosse program. He greatly respected his coaches and held his teammates as his brothers. He was an avid reader of world history, politics, and sports, and one of the most passionate fans of Philadelphia sports (Go Birds). Above all, he had an unbounding love for Ericha and his family.
