Senior Aidan McFalls scored in overtime and had five goals to lead host Boyertown to a 17-16 thriller over Downingtown West today, in a battle of undefeated and untied teams.
The Bears are 9-0 and already have more wins than all of last year (8-9). The Whippets are 8-1 and entered the week ranked No. 13 by Phillylacrosse.com and No. 4 in 3A in the PA State Lacrosse Rankings.

Boyertown had to rally in the second half after trailing, 8-4, at halftime. Boyertown tied it on a goal by Gage Parker (3 goals) and won it in OT when Jason Oakes found McFalls (also one assist) in transition.
“I thought we all played hard at the end and played amazing defense to get the turnover,” McFalls said oof the winning play. “It was very exciting, especially when I found out it counted (after a brief check by the referees). It was a great transition play by Jason to feed me.”
Gio Daddario and Tyler Diffenderfer each had two goals and three assists and Mason Barndt added two goals and an assist for Boyertown, which is 3-0 in the Pioneer athletic Conference.
Bret Bergey had six goals and an assist, Bram Monroe had three goals and an assist, while Carter Grear and Owen Lundmark each had two goals and three assists for Downingtown West, which is currently tied with Downingtown East atop the Ches-Mont League race (5-0).
McFalls, who will play at Penn College of Technology, said his team is hoping to challenge for its first Pioneer Athletic Conference crown.
“I definitely think our team chemistry has drastically changed and it has helped us as a whole to play with each other,” he said. “Definitely (contending in the PAC) is our goal and we’re going to be focused and hungry for that and more opportunities.”
