“Glory days well they’ll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl’s eye
Glory days, glory days.” – Bruce Springsteen

Like Bruce Springsteen wrote in his popular song, those glory days may never be forgotten. Now, followers of La Salle College High lacrosse and Explorer opponents for 30 year can re-live those days of yesteryear.
Former La Salle Hall of Fame Coach Bill Leahy and his son, Brenden recently released a YouTube Channel – the LSCHS Lacrosse History – which features almost 400 full game videos of La Salle storied past, all the way back to its second season and the first year of the Catholic League in 1993.
The job of taking approximately 10 years each of VHS tapes, 10 years of CDs and 10 years of HUDL videos and converting them to YouTube took a semester of researching and converting. Brenden Leahy did some of the work as part of a video production class, but this project will continue for future seasons. The Channel is available here.
“My wife wanted us to get rid of the VHS tapes,” said coach Leahy, who started the La Salle program in 1992 and won a state high 512 games, 23 Catholic League championships and five state championships until his retirement in 2019.
“Who doesn’t like to go back and see the glory days?”
Leahy said basically every big game, starting from the first Catholic League title game – a 7-6 win over Bishop Egan – until this past year is on the Channel – except, unfortunately, the 14-3 rout of Malvern Prep in the EPSLA title game (he asks that if anyone has the tape of that game, he’d be greatly appreciative if someone donated it). La Salle then won its first state title, 13-5 over Shady Side Academy.
Leahy said all lacrosse fans can enjoy watching old tapes of the many battles with Catholic League rival St. Joseph’s Prep and other elite teams from the region and beyond the Mid-Atlantic.
“The Channel is not just for La Salle fans,” said Leahy. “There’s many games involving Ridley, Haverford School and Malvern Prep and other top teams.”
