As Scottish National Team assistant coach Todd MacFarlane sits back and reflects on the recent Men’s World Lacrosse Championships in San Diego, he says the event meant more to him than even the impact of a world tournament.

It was a celebration of friendships made along his lacrosse journey.
Coach MacFarlane (Coach Mac) has a vast background in coaching boys and men, having been an assistant at Malvern Prep, the University of Maryland, the University of Pennsylvania, and most recently as a professional assistant with the PLL’s Redwoods LC. He also runs Performance Academy and now coaches girls’ lacrosse at Episcopal Academy.
His Team Scotland finished 4-3 in the World Championships, taking 17th place in the 30-team field.
“It was an absolute honor and privilege to take part in the World Lacrosse Championships and represent Team Scotland” said MacFarlane. MacFarlane soon realized that at every gathering, scrimmage, and at the Opening Ceremonies he was surrounded by friends he had made along his lacrosse journey of more than 40 years.
“I am extremely fortunate to have played, coached, and been associated with some outstanding programs, teams, players, people, and organizations throughout my many years of lacrosse”, stated Coach Mac.
“My heart was full the entire time I was at the games. Having the ability to see past players compete on the world stage was absolutely an awesome experience. These young men have put a lot of time and effort into their game and it all paid off!
“As I reflect on the World Lacrosse Championships, I can honestly say that it was an absolute celebration of friends who I have made through lacrosse. Anytime you can hug past players and friends wearing a kilt is always a fun experience.”
