From Press Release
Downingtown West Lacrosse continues its long history of celebrating the legacy of Brian Houshower, former Downingtown West lacrosse player. On March 12th, Downingtown West continued its connection to the future of lacrosse in the Downingtown community and hosted the 18th Annual Brian Houshower Lacrosse Festival Youth Clinic.

The Clinic was presented by the Brian’s family and by the Downingtown West Coaching Staff. Former college and professional players joined the Downingtown West team in providing instruction to over 60 local lacrosse players broken out into two different age groups. The youth players received excellent instruction in the game, fun prizes, and Downingtown West “swag”. The enthusiasm on the field was contagious.
In addition to hosting the Clinic, Coach Davis and Joan Ferree (Brian Houshower’s mother) awarded Brian’s #8 Jersey to senior LSM/Defender, Thomas Venzie. Brian’s mother, Ms. Ferree, was pleased to honor her son Brian by awarding the jersey to a player like Thomas who embodies the spirit of Brian – kind to others, positive, and a teammate who helps lift up and encourages others. Joan Ferree was also thrilled to have her grandson participate in the Clinic this year and begin to follow in Brian’s footsteps.
This year donations were also made to the Brian Houshower Scholarship Fund in honor of another former exemplary Downingtown West lacrosse player – David Gallagher. David and the Gallagher family supported the Brian Houshower Lacrosse Festival during their time with Downingtown West Boys Lacrosse and the Gallagher family feels the Houshower festival aligns with David’s love of the game.
The Downingtown West Boys Lacrosse program is honored and humbled to have support of both Brian’s family and David’s family and plans to continue the tradition of the Clinic every spring.
