For the third-straight week, Saint Joseph’s women’s lacrosse freshman Alexa Capozzoli (Episcopal Academy) has been announced as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
Capozzoli has now secured back-to-back-to-back Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors, her third accolade of the season moving into second in program history behind Stephanie Kelly’s four Rookie of the Week honors in 2018.
The rookie put on another offensive clinic for the Hawks, scoring three goals and providing two assists for a team-high five points against nationally-ranked Massachusetts. Capozzoli has now tallied 15 goals in the last four games, overtaking freshman counterpart Kate Fuhrman for most points on the squad for a rookie with 22 goals and six assists.
On the season, the Ridley Park native has now registered seven games with multiple goals along with four games with at least a hat trick. Increasing her role over the last month and a half, Capozzoli has scored seven goals and added four assists in games against ranked teams in #18 Princeton and #13 Massachusetts.
The Hawks conclude the regular season with a trip down south against VCU on Saturday, April 29th. SJU has locked in the third seed for the A-10 Tournament, securing the seventh-straight season with an above .500 record in conference and overall action.

Duquesne’s Leszczynski (Plymouth Whitemarsh) named A-10 Offensive POW
Duquesne’s Mackenzie Leszczynski (Plymouth Whitemarsh) has earned Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, after a career day in the win over La Salle on the road Saturday.
Leszczynski totaled a career-high nine points in the 21-12 win, the Dukes first A-10 victory of the season. She led all scorers with five goals, on five shots including a 3-for-3 effort from the free position, while dishing out a career-best four assists. She also recorded a team-high three ground balls and won three draw controls.
Leszczynski, a sophomore from Flourtown, has scored in all 14 games this season and Saturday’s five goals was the fourth time with five-plus in a game. She is currently second in the conference in goals per game (2.93), third in total goals (41) and free position goals per game (0.93), fifth in shots per game (5.36 / 4.14 on goal), eighth in shot percentage (54.7%), and ninth in points (54 / 3.86 per game).
The nine points and four assists were the most in a game by any Duke this season, while the nine points also tied for the eighth-most in a game in program history.
