Senior Machaela Henry scored five goals as Archbishop Carroll captured the 2023 Philadelphia Catholic League Girls’ Lacrosse Championship with a 20-3 win over Cardinal O’Hara Friday evening at Neumann University.

The win secured the 22nd straight league crown for the Patriots (19-1, ranked No. 1 by Phillylacrosse.com), who will face the third seed from District I in the opening round of the PIAA 2A Championships on June 6.
Junior Brooke Hippert opened the scoring just 18 seconds into the championship match before Lainey Straub netted a pair of goals along with a tally by Samantha Hewitt to give Archbishop Carroll a 4-0 lead. Following Henry’s first goal, Cardinal O’Hara’s Honor Breen converted at the 9:47 mark of the opening half. The Lions pulled to within 6-2 with 12:07 remaining as freshman Natalie DiBlasi unleashed a shot just past ACHS goalie Bridget Robinson.
However, Carroll closed the half with six consecutive goals, including Hewitt’s second goal with 34. 6 remaining to take a 12-2 lead at the half. Senior Ava Bleckley finished with four goals and sister Chloe added a pair of goals. Senior Carley Smith closed out the scoring for O’Hara, which finished 10-10.
