From Press Release
The Cabrini University men’s lacrosse team will open the 2023 season ranked 15th in the nation for Division III, according to the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine Top-20 Pre-Season Poll.
The Cavaliers have been crowned conference champions every year on record since the 2006 season. Cabrini has not lost a conference game in the 21 years since head coach Steve Colfer took over at the helm. The Cavs finished the 2022 season with a 16-5 overall record and defeated Washington and Lee in the NCAA Second Round before falling to No. 1-ranked Salisbury 13-8 in the Third Round.
The defending National Champion, RIT, topped the preseason rankings followed by Christopher Newport in second, with Bowdoin, Union, and Tufts rounding out the top-five, respectfully.
The Cavaliers are set to face five top-20 opponents as Cabrini will host No. 8 Lynchburg on Feb. 25 before hosting No. 13 Dickinson (Mar. 4), No. 14 Hampden-Sydney (Mar. 7), and No. 5 Tufts (Mar. 21). Then on April 21, the Cavs head to Salisbury to square off against the No.6-ranked Seagulls.
Cabrini opens the 2023 season with an away game at Haverford on Saturday, Feb. 18 before a seven-game home stand beginning with the Hornets.
