Gwynedd Mercy University opened its season impressively Wednesday with a 15-4 victory over host King’s College.
King’s recorded the first goal, but did not score again until midway through the third quarter (11-2, 8:23, 3QTR) as the Griffins rattled off 11 straight goals.
Gwynedd Mercy had a 35-18 shot advantage, 9-of-10 successful clears, and 14 caused turnovers.
Sophomore attack Kristin Varilla (North Penn) had six goals and five caused turnovers and senior attack Lauren Pelczar (Franklin Towne Charter) collected three goals and three assists to lead Gwynedd. Freshman attack Hailey Bloom (Atlantic City) scored twice and Damali Teagle (Central) provided three assists, three ground balls, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Reilly Owens (Pottstown) posted eight saves for the win.
