From Press Release

The disappointment from dropping the championship game of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament earlier in the day was still palpable. But, West Chester University’s women’s lacrosse team learned it is headed back to the NCAA Tournament as the second seed in the Atlantic Region.

West Chester (16-2) will play third-seeded Seton Hill (14-4) on Friday at 3 p.m. in one of two regional semifinals. Top seed and host East Stroudsburg (17-1) will take on fourth-seeded Mercyhurst (14-5) at 11 a.m. in the other semifinal. The two winners on Friday advance to the regional final on Sunday.

West Chester is making its 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and holds a 17-12 record overall. The Golden Rams have been to 10 NCAA Championship Games and have won two national titles (2002, 2008). West Chester dropped a 13-9 decision to East Stroudsburg in the last NCAA Tournament appearance a year ago.

West Chester is 3-2 against the rest of the Atlantic Region field in the NCAA Tournament. All three regional squads came out of the PSAC and were in Greensburg, Pa., this past weekend for the conference final four. The Golden Rams defeated Seton Hill, 17-8, in the PSAC Semifinals, before falling 15-12 to East Stroudsburg in the championship game. The Golden Rams and Warriors split their regular-season meetings with each winning on the road. West Chester also topped Mercyhurst 14-6 in the season opener at Vonnie Gros Field back in February.
